The exam consists of 3 parts.
Paper 1 is basically the knowledge paper - you will have to have prepared a sound basis of knowledge for this paper.
Paper 1 has a knowledge based question about the American West - this will also have sources with it - do not let yourself think that this is a "the sources shows us that ... bias ...etc." IT IS NOT. The sources are there to stimulate your memories (!) and prompt your answers. There will also be a choice of essay questions - you must answer one. The same set up exists for section B but this time the sources and the questions are about Crime and Punishment. Have a look at the sample paper for a clearer picture.
Paper 2 is your nominated topic paper. this consists of a number of sources and you have to use the sources to answer your questions. It is a good idea to revise your nominated topic and your technique for using sources before you go into this paper - again practice questions will help you.
